I have a 1997 Mustang GT with Tires size 245/45ZR17. The original wheels are 17x8 and I would like to get 17x9 or even 17x10.5. My question is, will my original tires fit the new size wheels?
Without knowing the exact make of your tires, generally a 245/45 R17 has a rim width range of 7.5 - 9.
The rule of thumb is that for every 1/2" change in rim width, the tire's section width will correspondingly change by approximately 2/10", so your tires will be wider by nearly half an inch.
Your 245/45ZR17s will fit 17x9 rims.
